UJA Leadership Awards Dinner
Zaslav Receives Zas-Love From Oprah and More
When the UJA honored Discovery Networks Communications President and CEO David Zaslav, celebrities from across the spectrum came out to salute him and show their support.
The event began with an opening video that was projection-mapped onto the rotunda of the venue. The video brought us from outer space, into the atmosphere, down through the streets of New York, passing some iconic NY landmarks, down Park Avenue, and into the event itself. It was a thrilling and fun-filled way to get things started.
The evening was hosted by Tom Brokaw, who also lent his talents to moderate a panel on the Arab Spring. Interesting, informative, and charming; he was the perfect fit.
The deserts were created by Buddy Valastro from the TLC hit show “The Cake Boss”. They included cakes with edible figurines of some of the celebrities in attendance on top, including Oprah who later quite touchingly thanked David for taking a chance on her with OWN. Even Elie Wiesel came to honor the man and the cause.
The entertainment was provided by Jackson Browne who, when he closed with “You’re A Friend Of Mine”, really seemed to be singing the truth.
The 500 distinguished business leaders, celebrities, and UJA supporters in attendance were treated to a star studded, informative, and from-the-heart celebration of a man who has meant so much to all of them.
Review: "Your team did a great job and it was a real pleasure working with you all. I look forward to the next time."
